How to create false colour in photoshop through inverting colour

Inverting the colour and tone of an image in Photoshop is easy -

This is one way to invert but the information is altered in a manner that is called destructive editing.

 

Select image > Adjustments > Invert
 

However, if we preform the same action in a layer we retain all the information

We have control over the invert layer and can turn it on or off

 

This is termed non-destructive editing
