Native distribution and habitat: Tillandsia extensa is a species of the genus Tillandsia. It is endemic to Ancash, Peru, as a saxicolous species it can be found on cliffs at elevations of about 500–2,500 metres (1,600–8,200 ft) above sea level.
Growth habit: With arching foliage it can grow to be over 60 cm
Foliage: The leaves can turn a dark maroon color that enhances the overall appearance.
Flowers: .The plant has a very tall tin branched spike with purple petals.
