Making and installation of the LEAF prints

1 Sept 2007

Carried out the first cyanotype experiment exposing the photograms, began with an exposure of 15 mins in bright sunlight. I have had to improvise a great deal with a very large sheet of glass that id difficult to carry. Also the water from the garden hose carries a great deal of sediment and the clean water I have to carry by buckets to the processing area.

However the Canson Montval paper is very good and the yellow stain that often accompanies the cyanotype process washes clean easily. The print looks like a mess but has give me some direction to follow.

I am now looking to complete a fine pencil drawing first on the paper, create the cyanotype and then finish with the charcoal drawing later. Also I am simplifying the design of the drawings. I completed 10 drawings and coated these with cyanotype by the afternoon.
