Many Bromeliad plants are epiphytic, they use otherplants and trees as supports but take nonourishmentfrom them. Because they have evolved
in a manner that allows them to absorb moisture through special cells
in their leaves, they are able to inhabit ahuge rangeofclimates.
For instance the Tillandsia or airplants grow in the extremely dry and hot climates of deserts but can also withstand cold and even frosts. On the other hand; for  Viresiasit is the more stablewarm humid jungles of the Amazon that provide the idealclimate. Bromeliads are members of agreat family of plants, the best known to humans being the edible pineapple. Bromeliads usually consist of arosette of strap shaped leaves that often form a reservoir, which holds water fromthe centre of which a colourful inflorescence emerges during the flower phase of their existence.
