Correct Exposure

Lets look how this works with some other subjects.

In this sunrise ( f 16 @ 1/30 sec) we gain a richness in the sky but there is no detail in the land.
Here with the exposure increased by 2 stops ( f 8 @ 1/30 sec) we begin to gain some detail in the land but the intensity of the sky is lost.
In this image ( f5.6 @ 1/30 Sec) while we have gained textural detail in the land - we have lost significant detail in the sky -

In this image ( 1/500 @ f11) the detail in the texture of the shed and clouds is reduced. Here ( 1/250 sec @ f11) we have good detail in the cloud - but the land is losing texture.

Sometimes like when working with transparency film - we might need to make very accurate calculations for the correct exposure.
