Making large Van Dyke brown prints:

 

 

Step 3

Ask for help in shifting the board with the paper, negative and glass on top to the exposure area.

Step 4:

Lay this out for the exposure. Note the colour of the emulsion when first laid out. With larger works it can be useful to work on slightly duller days for the exposure.

Note how the emulsion changes colour during the exposure.
Once the work is fully exposed ( note the colour of the emulsion has become darker again) shift the work back inside to an area of subdued light.
