Slips
By using
a slip, a larger internal space can be created inside that frame which
allows a work, which has a 3 rd dimension to be framed behind glass.
The slip is usually a thin sip of wood that is fixed to the side of
the frame, holds the glass firmly in place and then creates a firm base
for the mat to sit against.
