• Use a grey card to take the exposure from the original.

The KODAK Gray (grey) Card is a consistent natural test target that allows you to eliminate variables in your determination of proper exposure. Both in-camera and handheld exposure meters provide exposure information for an "average" scene, one than contains a balance of dark and light tones equal to a middle gray (18%). By taking reflected-light meter readings off of a gray card, rather than a subject of unknown reflectance, more accurate exposures will result. The gray card is an in valuable aid for standardizing photographic, digital imaging, and video processes for optimal rendering of colors and full incident light.
