the use of Lines in visual design

Vertical lines are seen as the other natural component relegated to the camera frame, it is also the main component associate with the standing human form and objects like a tree. Its direction is the force of gravity or something escaping it.

Under certain circumstances they confront the viewer - like a row of fence palings they can act as blocking force, they can emphasize force and power.

As for horizontal lines exact alignment is important. In a photograph the vertical and horizontal axis of the frame is an uncompromising reference point and any discrepancy is immediately recognizable.
