Neoregelia fordiana corceli
In 2006 I first began cross pollinating Neoregelias ( a genus of Bromeliad) and a year later I had ripe seed which I planted in 2007 to germinate the hybrids - I nurtured these seedling plants for years and now the first plant is mature and the flowers just opened!
As hybridizer, one can select the name of the new plant - most have romantic names like Julies sunset - however to draw attention to the issue of climate and CO2, all my new hybrids are to be named after carbon emitting devices -
This new plant is Neoregelia fordiana corceli after the Ford Corcel
