Printmaking

The process of pre-visualizing the final reproduction of a photographic image and using several techniques that are subtly applied to improve reproduction quality. Burning and dodging is one printmaking technique that is widely used. While printmaking is used to balance disparate tones and compensate for limitations in different image capture and reproduction systems, it also allows photographers to recreate the mood they attempted to record.
