Dynamic range

Like density range, a reference to the range of measurable tones in an original image or a reproduction. The dynamic range of a CCD or other sensor also is a crucial factor to evaluate when purchasing a digital scanner or camera Defined in density units, dynamic range is a logarithmic measurement of the amount of light recorded (each additional point of density increases light absorption by a factor of ten). See density, density range, tonal range.
