Artifacts
Extraneous digital information resulting from limitations in the technological processesof imaging systems. Electrical interferences generated by moving components or flare, glare, scratches, lint, dust hairs - interfering with optical sugnals are forms of artifacts. Also called noise, artifacts alter pixel values. See aliasing, bleeding, blooming, colour finging, signal processing, signal to noise ratio.
