Original copy material - medium size originals

While vertical copy stands are excellent for copying smaller works, works up to about 500 x 600mm.The limit of the size works that can be copied depends upon the copy stand, how height the head can be extended, and how larger area the light can evenly illuminate. While it might appear that a larger work can be copied simply by using a wider angle lens, because of pin cushion distortion this should be avoided. A better method of copying originals of this scale is to mount then on the wall and shoot horizontally.

Aspects for consideration

• Faithful reproduction of colour & tones – no loss of tonal detail in blacks or whites - no colour cast in the high lights
• Sharp image from edge to edge of image
Even illumination of original
• Tonal enhancement using filters if required

No perspective distortion in the copy
• No camera or light reflections in the copy
