Flash Lighting - ACCESSORIES - Gobo's or Shadow Boards
There
seems to be no reason why they are called Gobo's, but shadow boards
are simply a device, like a card, painted black to absorb light and
are used to deflect light away from areas of the subject, the
studio environment or the lens of the camera the photographer
does not want light to reach. If a board with some flexibility like
a thin sheet of polystyrene foam is used it can be bent to direct
the light in the manner the photographer desires.
