Program exposure mode is fully automatic. The electronics
of the camera selects both the shutter speed and aperture
based on the amount of light falling on the sensor to produce
a correct exposure.

If the lighting
in the subjecy produces over or under exposure - perhaps the situation
is back lit - the over /under expoure
compenastion setting can be used to correct this.
