Shutter Priority or TV Mode ( S) - Applicable to both film and digtal SLR cameras

This is where the photographer sets the shutter speed and the aperture is automatically adjusted by the camera to give the correct exposure

With the aperture priority setting is an semi automatic setting where the aperture is selected and the electronics of the camera selects the shutter speed based on the amount of light falling on the sensor to produce a correct exposure.

It can be useful in situations where the photographer wants to use a specific aperture - perhaps to achieve unlimited depth of field or selective focus and the subject and /or light levels are fluctuating.

If the lighting in the subjecy produces over or under exposure - perhaps the situation is back lit - the over /under expoure compenastion setting can be used to correct this.
