Metallic toners
There
is a range of other metallic toner recipes that produce an equally wide
range of tones and colourations. The permanence and stability of these
relates to the nature of the base metal.
- Nickel
with variations can Produce red to violet toned prints
- Vanadium
Produces green tones of a permanent nature.
- Uranium
yields brown to reddish tones it intensifies the image and the results
may prove impermanent.
- Mercury
produces a range of tones from rich warm brown through to black
brown.
- Ferric
(iron) These toner convert the silver image into a brilliant
prussian blue ferro-ferriccyanide compound They tend to intensify
the image and increase density.
- Copper
yields tones from warm brown to light red
- Lead
In lead toning the image is converted into yellow lead chromate
Cobalt gives green tones
