Specific
Masks:
These
can be cut out of black stiff cardboard to almost any shape and laid
in the paper when the exposure is made. As the light only projects
through the opening a corresponding image shape is printed onto the
paper. Circles and ovals work particularly well, and a good trick is
to raid the scraps of a local picture framer and mat cutter. Size and
align the image to fit the opening in the mat.
For the Codes of Survival Project I made a very specific mask that had three pieces and allowed me to align the image in the centre keep a white boarder around the image and then print the photogram. Different parts of the mask was used for each component of the print.
