Ground Glass/Film Holder

The ground glass is a frosted piece of glass that captured the image projected from the lens.  The image will appear upside down and reversed from right to left because there is no reflex mirror system in a view camera to orient the scene correctly for the viewer. It provides the most accurate viewing system for aligning the image.

When removing or inserting the Ground Glass and film holder always make sure it is firmly locked in place before taking your hand off it. The red arrow indicates the release and locking mechanism.
