Filters for Black & white Film

 

In his black and white work Ansel Adams often used an orange filter with a polarizing screen – this what gave his skies their rich tone. Normal black and white film does not to reproduce blue with the same tonal contrast that we perceive with the human eye.

A yellow filter brings it back to more like our perception and an orange enhances it even further.
